Arcata Fire District's apparatus includes engines, a water tender, command vehicles, and other specialized equipment for rescue and support functions.  Apparatus are categorized, or "typed" (i.e. Type 1, Type 2) by the capability to assist with resource ordering.  Resource typing provides emergency managers with the information they need to request and receive the specific resources to mitigate an emergency or disaster.

New Type 1 Engine Begins Production

Arcata Fire District is pleased to announce that production has begun on our new Type 1 fire engine at Pierce Manufacturing. The apparatus committee will be monitoring the build progress, and new photos will be posted weekly as construction continues
